California Parenting Institute Street Frontage
After successfully designing and installing the healing garden at the California Parenting Institute, our firm was asked for further assistance in designing street frontage and parking lot landscaping for the non-profit organization. The project is highly visible to staff, visitors, and passers-by as it encompasses the organization’s entry drive and monument signage and fronts a busy business park boulevard.
Our firm designed a 2,300 ft² drought tolerant, low maintenance landscape featuring showy and aromatic plants for an area that had previously been an abandoned dirt patch. With careful consideration for adjacent property landscaping and the site’s existing trees, the planting plan creates harmony, continuity and visual appeal in the street-side landscaping.
Once the design was finalized, we helped procure the donation of all plant materials, compost, mulch, and irrigation equipment and coordinated the materials delivery from several local vendors to the project site.
The landscaping was installed during United Way’s annual Day of Caring in September 2012, with our firm managing approximately twenty volunteers. In just one day, the team of volunteers planted 200 shrubs and perennials, installed a water-wise drip irrigation system, and spread over 20 yards of mulch to complete the project.
