Courtyard by Marriott
The General Manager of this hotel retained Michael A. Cook, Landscape Architect to assist in several projects to improve the landscape aesthetic of the hotel property. First project was the removal of 3 Canary Island Palm Trees, but not just the removal, the sale, transport and mitigation of the trees. Over a one year period, MACLA solicited interested parties in the trees, obtained a tree removal permit from the City of Novato (not easy to do) and sold the trees. In mitigation for the removal, Michael prepared a landscape plan. Michael conducted the bid process for the hotel, found the lowest responsible bidder and had the landscape installed. The second project was improving the overall look of the hotel landscaping. Through a competitive bid process, the hotel selected a new landscape maintenance company (with Michael's assistance and guidance). Over the following year, Michael was involved in helping the hotel save water, save on maintenance costs and improve the landscape.
