Firma Design Group developed construction documents and provided construction oversight for a significant renovation project located in an established business park. Main project goals were improved pedestrian circulation and ADA compliance around the building, highlighting building entrances and common areas, and updating an unimpressive landscape.
Our team of civil engineers and landscape architects designed site improvements including: new ADA parking stalls, ramps and walkways; plaza hardscape; street and accent trees; and landscaping at the main entries, building perimeter and parking lot. With much of the peripheral landscape to remain, our firm designed a high efficiency irrigation system for the new landscape which upgraded and tied into the existing system.
Our initial site analysis identified mature trees on the property that were damaging paving and had the potential to cause considerable damage to the office building. As such, we worked with City staff to gain approval for trees we proposed to be removed and replacement mitigation tree plantings. In place of the invasive and undesirable tree species, we specified appropriate trees to shade the parking lot, provide visual interest at building entrances, and accent along the streetscape within the space constraints of the landscape areas. The final planting design features vibrant plants and bold patterns that command attention around the perimeter of the building with heightened interest at entryways.
