Hidden Valley Elementary School

Nestled in the hills of the City of San Anselmo lies Hidden Valley Elementary School, with an ever increasing student body the school was in dire need of additional classrooms.  Working with AXIA Architects and the Ross Valley School District, Firma Design Group provided landscape architectural services for the classroom expansion project.  With a quick time frame to complete the project modular buildings were the answer.  The site was graded, foundations poured, buildings placed and paving installed, and the site was ready for landscaping.

The landscape concept was to provide a low maintenance, drought tolerant plantings that would stand up to elementary school age kids.   The slopes received native ornamental grasses, shrubs and ground covers while the level portions of the project received a now mow native grass mix with temporary overhead irrigation.  Recycled mulch was used on the slopes and a subterranean drip system was provided throughout the project.  The project was approved by the Department of the State Architects Office as well as the Marin Municipal Water District.
