The Howard residence represents the pinnacle of residential design excellence as the North Bay Business Journal’s Top Real Estate Project Award winner for a Single Family Residence in 2012. This project was a collaborative effort between the design team and project builders.
Firma Design Group provided site planning and landscape architecture services for this luxurious Tuscan-style villa in collaboration with the architect. Our scope of services included conceptual design through complete construction document package (site and layout plan, construction details, planting plan, irrigation plan, lighting plan). We were also retained to provide quality assurance and construction observation through weekly site visits while the residence was being built. The construction phase lasted 1 1/2 years.
This exclusive residential project showcases many custom details including wall-mounted gas lanterns that we designed, field stone retaining walls, a grass and travertine pool deck, travertine patio terraces and stair cases, among many others. Wood and stone building materials for the residence blur the distinction between the man-made and natural environments.
Three existing, mature oak trees were transplanted onsite to preserve the natural woodland feel of the property, and many California native species were utilized in the planting plan to integrate the project with the surrounding oak grasslands.
